MIKO MARTIKAINEN

I am a 16-year-old mäntsälä equal racing cyclist. In the winter, I also enjoy cross-country skiing at the national level. I am studying for a bachelor's degree in information and communication technology at the Salpaus training center.

In my free time I like e.g. relax, see friends, play on the computer and get excited about everything.

My dad enjoyed road biking and at the age of 10 I went jogging with my dad for the first time. At that time, skiing was still the main sport, so cycling was mainly involved in summer training. I didn't go to races when I was younger, I participated in fitness races - e.g. In the summer of 2014, at the age of 10, I was the first in the men's series on the 47 km route in Mäntsälä and the second in the men's series on the 45 km route in Kevadpolkais.

Skiing, my passion was 6 years old, and since it was still the main species, but cycling became even more interesting. In 2019, cycling became my main sport and I moved to represent Porvoo from Achilles.

The first official cycling competitions in time for the 2016 Mäntsälä Athletes in the ISM M14 series. In 2018, I started cooperating with coach Hannu Hämäläinen and our cooperation continues. I train 10 to 15 hours a week in a variety of ways.

Cycling has only been my main sport for a year, so my best achievements are still ahead. I have set the goal to participation in international competitions.
